With my music video I have planned how the narrative will develop and it was a mixture of a story/abstract concepts however I feel I can push myself to be much more experimental with my work and produce a abstract and narrative music video.
From producing my animatic/story board I began to look into more music videos by artists I really enjoy at the moment like Hiam and their song 'falling' this music video is abstract and different. Which inspires me to be different in my approach to my A2 advanced media portfolio. Comparing myself when researching now to last year, I feel I have gained confidence in trail and error. I produced a lot of drafts for my music magazine and this has led me to believe how I can push myself and my creativity to a new personal level, in producing a moving image piece of work rather than still imagery like in my AS studies.
I've had adaptations to my scenes such as the studio scene. I will keep to the inspiration from Rihanna's disturiba music video with the scary acting and quick camera movements for when my music picks up. However, an adaptation of mine is when I thought about using paint on my main talents face on a close up. I began to think "why stop there?". As I have experimented with still imagery in my photography studies I thought I could adapt this to my music video by using many different camera angles, pans , and zooms to make my music video much more interesting and allow my audience to be active in their opinions to the video. By this I won't be sticking to a hypodermic needle by feeding a concept into their thoughts, but to allow them to think of their own and decode my music video.
Another adaptation of mine is when my main taken is in the bath. I thought about doing some planned shots in the bath as originally planned on my story board but allowing a different form of portraying the same concept (drugs overcoming her) in a different form. I will do this by the tap water changing colour to a black and how the bath water slowly turns from clear to dark representing how the drugs are overwhelming her/her body. This is the same concept of drugs taking over as in the studio scenes and the paint running down her back, face, and other body parts (when I am experimenting with good angles and shots) represents the concept of time.
To have something to fall back on, I will still film some story narrative shots as a back up if my abstract approach is not what I hope to produce. However, even though I have changed my ideas last minuet, I believe I will be able to produced a good outcome with my abstract approach.
