Mise-en-scene - Prop List and Location List

Prop List
  • Fake Cigarettes -I will buy from joke shop
  • False eye lashes -I will buy from primark
  • White bed sheets - use old ones
  • Box lights - photography studio (ask for permission, I also have 2 box lights at home)
  • Rope (Prop from photography - as i am a photography student I have permission to use it)
  • Socks (with holes in them)
  • Mirrors (Simple mirror on a wall or wardrobe either at my house or my main talents house)
  • Black or white back drop (I have a white back drop and I will ask permission from the photography department to use the black backdrop in the studio)
  • Money (I will withdraw some notes)
  • Little Bag of Salt or Sugar (to look like drugs)
  • Wine Bottles (use old wine bottles - from home)
  • Vodka Bottles (use old Vodka bottle - from home)
  • Candles (I have a lot of candles at home)
  • Disco coloured lights (I have these at home)
  • Big rings - Use mine (these reinforce the type of fashion indie/rock would wear)
  • Paint for face (Picture below)

In my photography studies, I used paint and it worked really well in contrast to the skin on my model. I believe that adding this to my main talent, it can make my music video more abstract; however, I will not be letting the paint run on her back, she will have it running from her eyes and then smudge it across her face as if they were tears. I believe this will work and look good however, I will need to practise this with my main talent to make sure it will work before I book out the studio and waste filming time.

Location List

  • Bathroom at my house
  • Brick wall - Around the back of local corner shops for a rough looking location
  • Photography Studio - At My College / White backdrop could be shot at my house with my own box lights if studio is needed to photography students desperately
  • Local Streets -For my main character to walk down OR if she doesn't feel confident being down a street, I could film this down a country road with a "rough" looking building in the shot
  • Kitchen - Jodee's Kitchen

Studio set up

This is how my lighting will look in the studio with the backdrop draping down to the fall to create realism and continuity to look professional. Using this harsh lighting, shadows will be created which will make my video look interesting once I change it to black and white and edit some of these scenes into a mirrored image.

I used Katie in this image as Jodee was unavailable

Brick Wall

This is the back street of my local shops and I feel that this is the perfect location for my "brick wall" location as it usually has rubbish or run down elements to the location which is what I want to in  this location shot.

Local Streets

The 'A' on the map is where I live. The local shops are down the street called "Woodhall Way" so this screen shot is the streets I will film my main talent walking down the streets. I will try to make these walking scenes look professional as I dont plan to have a long shot of her walking, I would prefer to use close-ups on legs/feet walking and medium shots showing her clothing moving to show she is walking in a more interesting way.
