Location List & Prop List & Costume List

Location List
Bathroom scene:
For the bathroom scene we will be filming at my house as my bathroom most resembles the one in the video. The layout of my bathroom also is similar to the original. The only aspects we will have to change will be adding a mirror and rearranging where the towels are kept.

The kitchen scene:
The kitchen scene will be shot at Jamie's house, again this is because his most resembles the one in the video. The placement of the cooker and work surfaces are almost the same and this will create verisimilitude.

The corridor scene:
This will also be shot at Jamie's house as he has the largest corridor which will make it easier to film. The doors are also arranged in a similar way to the original. We can also recreate the lighting easier here as there is a good amount of natural light at the end furthest away, just like in the original video.

The White Brick Wall:
We will be going to Grovehill Road in Beverley to shoot this scene. This is because none of us have any other access to a white brick wall. Also with it being outside there will be a good amount of light and also we don't have to worry about damage to our property.

First Step of Action

As this music video is edited reversed, to film this we needed to work out what to film in the correct order as this can become very confusing. Once we have filmed all the following actions, we simply have to reverse the film when we come to editing our video. Hopefully, this will make the production of this much easier and simpler.

1: over the shoulder shot of girl about to throw the bottle while man runs past in front of the wall
2: shot of the girl throwing the bottle in the kitchen
3: side shot of the white brick wall with the glass smashing and falling
4:  glass smashing and breaking on the wall from a front angle
5: the glass falling from a side angle
6: shot of the breezeblock table with the books on top, man runs and grabs the left breezeblock. Close up on the breezeblock and his left hand which has a white watch and a wedding ring.
7: shot back to the girl, she slowly moves down a little.
8: shot back to the white wall, close up on the breezeblock and the hands, the womans hands appear.
9: over the shoulder shot on the girl, man has an angry face as they fight.
10: shot down to the feet, girl wearing converse, man wearing smart shoes. Feet slip around as they fight.
11: another shot of the hands and the breezeblocks, the man has the better hold.
12: another shot of the feet.
13: another shot of the hands and breezeblock, man wins.
14: shot of the woman still in the kitchen, nervous.
15: over the shoulder shot of the woman as she turns around and the man lifts the breezeblock above his head. They both run forward.
16: slow pan and back track of the pair down the corridor. The man gets hold of her jacket and pulls it off, breezeblock in left hand. He then lets go and lifts the breezeblock with both hands.
17: a shot of the bathroom door, shot of the breezeblock and the man’s hand.
18: shot of the tap running fast, slow zoom.
19:slight low angle in the bathroom of the woman facing the bath and the man behind lifting the breezeblock above his head and down on the woman as she turns to face him.
20: high angle shot on the bath as the girl falls back into the water and water splashes everywhere.
21: man leans over the bath.
22: another shot of the woman and the water moving.
23: a shot of the hand in the red water sinking.
24: an extreme close up of the mans head in his hands, the wedding ring is predominant.  Zoom slowly.
25: mid shot of the man in the same position.

A member in my team (Chloe Dunn) found the music video when its not reversed and the "normal" way round. 2:14 - 3:24 its a minute and 10 seconds on here but this does not matter. We know how to film it and act it out and then we will just put the edits together and put in reverse order to the right section matching the original music video and timing of the music.

The original music video we are recreating. Alt-J Breezeblocks

This is the music video me and my group are recreating.

Brief - Music Video

In order to prepare for your A2 Media Studies coursework - the advanced portfolio, I need to:

  • work in a group of three to four people to plan and produce a reconstruction of a minute of an existing music video.
  • set up your individual A2 coursework blog and choose your coursework brief
  • gather evidence research into the conventions of your chosen brief over the summer starting with codes and conventions of your media form with examples, and also the genre of text you intend to produce (i.e Music Video conventions and rock conventions)
